Birthday Madness
Okay so for those of you who don't know, this past week has been quite insane.
On Tuesday, August 29th, my little sister (or as she likes to be called, "younger" sister. Same difference) was taken to the ER by my mom and later taken to Atlanta Children's via ambulance for breathing issues. The next day was my birthday.
What surprised me was that while people were taking care of my sister and worried about her, I wasn't left in the dark. Now, bdays don't really mean that much to me. I get one every year and quite frankly I just enjoy them 'cause they're an excuse to see friends and eat lots and lots of junk food. Plus, I had planned a bday party that Saturday, so I wasn't missing anything.
But, my church totally remembered both me and my sister. I walked in the building and was swept into a whirl of people all asking how she was and wishing me well. Again, it's not like I attach much emotional importance, but that made me feel very loved. Plus my youth group had a mini lil bday thingy for me and that made me real happy.
Fast forward throughout the week and so many people had helped us. People gave me and the boys a bunch of food so we didn't have to worry about that while mom stayed at the hospital with Lil. People came over and helped me get the kids to bed, make lunches, clean up and provide time for me to do my homework. I wouldn't have made it without their help, and if you're reading this and you're one of those people (you know who you are), thank you.
My cousin took my brothers for the weekend and I got to have a sleepover with 2/3's of my best friends. It was really a blessing because had my friends mom not jumped in, that part wouldn't have happened. That night was a lot of fun and I totally did notttt eat my weight in pop tarts.... :)
The next morning my sister got released from the hospital and beat me home. My friends and I ran to a store and I got a shirt that says, "I'm not a social butterfly, I'm a sarcastic moth" and I think it's better than pizza. The cashier was a tad slow and I took FOREVER to find the shirt, so I ended up being a few mins late to my own birthday party.... classy, huh?
It was a ton of fun though. I had about 12 friends from church or school over and it was a blast. We're so mature that we ended up having lightsaber battles, riding tricycles and pushing each other in my brothers small battery powered car. Real mature, I know. My mom was really brave and actually did an exemplary job of monitoring and being funny without being "that" mom.
Here's a few pics that I think summed the day up quite well. (If you're in them sorry lol)
So yeah, thank you everyone for praying for my sister and thanks for all the bday wishes :)
