Second Second Semester Life
So I was looking through my old posts and realized I haven't talked about this semester at all. Which is really unfair because it's been fun.
My first class is Drama (no, not the bad kind, the actual class). I really love the teacher and the kids in there. It can get a little stressful, but it really is so much fun, I'm definitely gonna try for the next class. Mrs. Long is a wonderful woman, she really makes that class feel like a family. She's also very understanding and she really does care about us kids. (even if she dress codes you for wearing a unicorn onesie, which isn't technically pajamas but it's close enough, she was just doing her job). We do lots of skits, plays and improv in that class. It's a writer/directors paradise. At the beginning of the year I had one friend in there and now I'd say I have at least 4 friends and know everyone.
My second block is World History. Originally, I had Honors, but if you know me at all, you know that history is not my strong suit and that I'm actually trying to enjoy High School, not throw it all away crying over 200 page packets on the industrial revolution, so I switched to normal. Best. Decision. Ever. Some of my closest friends are in that class AND we have free seating so I get to sit by them. My teacher is the definition of chill. He gives us the bare minimum of work and is lax about when we get it done. He knows he can't really control teenagers and that most kids rebel when teachers try to rule with an iron fist, so he gives us the work, teaches what he needs to and then kinda lets us do whatever. It sounds chaotic, but it's not. I'd go as far as to say that it's my favorite class.
Third Block is math... dun dun dun... I was actually really stressed about this class at the beginning of the year. The teacher that I had to begin with had a really bad reputation with the students, plus it's a Freshman class (pretty sure I've failed math more than I've "passed" it) and if I failed it then I'd have to repeat Sophomore year. Sooo yeah, when I say I was stressed about this class I mean I was *sTResSeD*. Thankfully, that teacher quit like the day before school started and I got a new teacher. She is one of the best things to happen to me this semester. She is systematic and follows a routine. I know what to expect everyday in class, no surprises. She's funny too. She's amazing at explaining things without overloading you with details. I'm actually passing with a high B right now. I'm very grateful for her. Also, I guess the school she taught at before NPHS used books, so she literally got thrown into this at the last minute with zero resources. When I say she's amazing, I mean it. Also, I've made friends with some really cool kids (cuz being 3 months older gives me permission to call them kids?) and they make that class eventful.
During third block I have lunch.. AND LITERALLY ALMOST ALL MY FRIENDS ARE THERE! Of course there's been some drama, but overall lunch has been the highlight of my day. I get like 20 mins to eat and mess around and chill with people I really enjoy hanging out with (even if we have like zero table space). I'm gonna miss that so much, I really hope I'll have lunch with these guys next year.
My final class of the day is Psychology. My teacher (Mrs. Long, there's 2 Mrs. Longs at my school and I have both of them) is a really cool person. She really cares about her students a lot, it's really sweet. We usually spend at least 20 mins of class just talking and hanging out. She has so many stories. Some are hilarious and totally insane, others are pretty sad. It's a detail heavy class with a lot of vocab, but it's pretty fun. It's honestly a good way to end the day.
As I mentioned earlier, I was looking back at my old posts and figured I should update on how last semester ended.
Auto was everything I expected and more, it was so much fun and the teacher was the best thing ever. He even bought us chicken biscuits one day. I learned a lot and am definitely taking that class again.
I called it on Lit/comp. It was my favorite class and my plan to make friends worked. I left that class with the best "squad" ever. Towards the end of the semester our teacher got kinda salty, but he was still really funny and I loved that class. My friends and I always reminisce about it, we really had a good thing going.
Spanish was a roller coaster for my teacher. I got kinda close with her and she went through some really hard stuff. I miss her a lot, she was the first teacher I really connected with in my High School career and I'm not gonna have her again, so yeah I miss her loads and try to say hi every once and a while.
My last class *deep breath*...Okay. So. Remember what I said about that teacher being good? Nahhh man bump that. He was really petty and passive aggressive, and if there's 2 things that bring out the bad side of me, it's people in charge like that. Admittedly, I wasn't the best kid in there, especially towards the end of the semester, though really the only bad thing I did was sleep. (Which I still do, but none of my current teachers take it personally like he did) Plus, it was physical science and ya girl is not very good at that. I passed though and I don't think I'll end up with that teacher again, so all's well that ends well. (whatever that means)
I don't know what semester was my favorite, both were incredible in their own ways. Last semester was really like construction and laying the groundwork for this semester. I worked on making friends and getting to know people last semester and this year I'm reaping the benefits. I'm really gonna miss school. I feel like this is gonna be one of my favorite years, as far as school goes.
TL;DR: This semester has been real lit and I love it so much I don't want it to end.
