Go Make Your Lightbulb

Einstein tried a billion times to make a lightbulb. He tried over a thousand times and he never gave up.... Can you call this an author’s note if it was made while writing the thing? Well okay yeah I realized as I was typing that that I had the wrong guy, but I thought it was funny so I kept it in there. ANYWAY here’s when I realized it was someone else.

EDISON! It was Edison. Okay. Anyway, this guy tried so many times to make a thing that many people didn’t even think they needed. I feel like dialogue went like this;
Normal people:“Why ya gotta make light complicated, all I gotta do is light a candle.”
Eddy: “But what if you don’t have a candle? Whatcha gonna do then, huh? Wait till the sun comes up? WAIT WHAT IF THE SUN DOESN’T COME UP WHATCHA GONNA DO THEN HUN? THAT’S RIGHT NOTHIN, YOU GONNA DIE!”

Something like that. My point is, good ole Eddy slaved over this idea that was so abstract and so out of the box that it almost didn’t even seem needed. But he still did it. He still figured it out and made a thing, even though it took a while, he made a thing that nowadays we can’t live without. People probably picked on him, like
“Hey Eddy wanna hang this weekend?”
“Nahhh bro you know Eddy can’t hang, he’s busy with his magic light tubes.”
“IT’S A LIGHT BULB, THEODORE. A. LIGHT. BULB.”
But he kept going. And believe you me, he showed those people.  Like, what if Eddy went to Alaska during the time where it’s dark all the time and showed them the light bulb? They’d think he was a god. So, whatever the thing you’re working on right now, sports, increasing your bench max, finishing that drawing, learning the movements for band or guard, working on your truck, memorizing that monologue, winging that eyeliner or finishing a purple unicorn hat that you’ve secretly been working on since kindergarten, keep working on the thing. Even if people think it’s dumb. It’s important. You’re important. Go kick some butt my doods.

             Saltwater burned into my eyes and mouth, soaking my clothes and the bitter air churned my blood into ice. I gripped the side of the ship in a useless effort to remain steady as I observed my fellow crewmates. The Fishing Boat Trials

I’d already lost two of my passengers and my last one had succumbed to the ending he believed wad the inevitable. Sharks gnashed their serrated teeth across my hull and breached into the air, reaching for my lone passenger’s limbs. It was almost impossible for me to stay afloat. The Great Storm claimed my mast, leaving the searing pain coursing through my body as the only reminder of the life i had once lived. I’m only a fishing boat but I’ve seen some things.
